The NSW Government has released a Draft version of their new Native Vegetation Regulatory Map interface. This is a tool that allows users to spatially view land categories that can assist them when deciding how best to manage land, and what regulations apply under the Local Land Services Act (2013) and Local Land Services Regulation (2014).
The tool has an explanation of what is allowed in each land category including whether you are or are not able to clear native vegetation, or any allowable activities that may be permitted. The Draft version is currently open for review by landholders, to confirm which category their land falls under, and a final version will be published once the review period closes, although dates for this are not yet confirmed.
The interface still includes the Transitional Native Regulatory Vegetation Map, that was released in 2017. The transitional map only outlined 6% of NSW land under Category 2 – vulnerable (restricted clearing) and Category 2 – sensitive (no clearing) and excluded land. Whereas the updated map also shows Category 1 (clearing allowed without LLS approval), and Category 2 – regulated (most clearing allowed).
