The Threatened Species Recovery Hub and NRM Regions Australia joined forces in October, bringing together researchers, decision-makers, land managers and community organisations to discuss how best to protect and save wildlife from bush fires now and into the future.
On the Tuesday 12th, delegates heard from presenters including:
- Dr Natasha Robinson from DPIE’s Saving Our Species Program and the Australian National University;
- Renee Brawata a Senior Ecologist from the Conservation Research Team at the ACT Government and the University of Canberra;
- Paul Jennings Project Coordinator for the Kangaroo Island dunnart recovery project,
- Karleah Berris Project Manager for the Kangaroo Island black cockatoo project with the Landscape Board, and
- Heidi Groffen from the Kangaroo Island Land for Wildlife Group.

The second webinar in the series looked at “Coordinating to protect culture and biodiversity in the heat of the wildfires”. Rachel Morgain again brought together a range of experts with presentations from:
- Dr Libby Rumpff a Senior Research Fellow from School of Bio Sciences at the University of Melbourne,
- Dr Kelly de Bie a Post-doctoral Research Fellow from the School of Bio Sciences at the University of Melbourne,
- Oliver Costello the deputy chair of the Threatened Species Recovery Hub’s Indigenous Reference Group,
- Dr Fiona Faser the acting Threatened Species Commissioner,
- Anne Buchan Manager of Biodiversity Knowledge at the Victorian Government’s Department of Land Water and Planning and
- Luc Farago Manager of Land Services at the Northern Tablelands LLS.
